Our love story

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step

...

How we met
December 2015

We met officially on the 17th of December 2015 which was about two weeks after his birthday, before then he gave me a call one morning through my sisters phone. I remember her giving me the phone to speak to a stranger with a strict warning "not to be rude"  with that end note I already knew I was meant to be rude. I kept my cool and spoke to the caller,  before he could finish his sentence I already knew were he was going and I was a bit irritated because he sounded too formal and official, deep within me I knew he wanted something deep but was just beating around the bush so I decided to tense him up a little so I prepared a lie in my head.
The next time he called I told him I was engaged and that my introduction was coming soon, I said that because I needed him to spill out what he had in mind since he was beating around the bush and being shy about it. The moment he heard about the false introduction his tone changed and he could barely talk, I was so happy I got him but he called back some hours later telling me he did his findings and got to know I was faking. We both laughed it off, we continued talking for some days until he told me he was coming to see me, I did not take him serious but he kept updating me about his every activity until he drove down to lokoja one Saturday morning, when I saw him I was so shy and embarrassed but I braced myself and we went out to several places, that was how he kept visiting till I went back for my NYSC program in Akwa ibom.

The Proposal
07 July 2016

During one of my visit back home we attended a  wedding together which happened to be the wedding of a mutual family friend, we had a date together with some of our friends and it was fun, little did I know he had plans to propose, I never even suspected anything, he even sent his little niece to check my ring size using her mothers ring but she did it smartly in such a way that I suspected nothing, after few minutes of talking and laughing I noticed some restless movement among our friends and just when I was going to complain about their movement I saw my boyfriend kneeling close to me with a ring, I felt like jumping into the pool but I said a big "yes" with all the possible smiles I could give.
